Critical Reflection

In the beginning, I told myself that I would like to better my understanding of professional and academic tone in writing and focus specifically on maintaining coherency in a concise manner. A specific goal which I wanted to achieve was to understand which words were appropriate for said tone while communicating online Although this has not explicitly been achieved, I believe the different in-class practices has taught me the appropriate words that should be used and avoided while writing in a particular tone. During this module, I should have taken up the initiative to write formal emails to interview professional or experts in the field to gain experience. This module has emphasised the importance of plagiarism and proper citations. During the write up section of the research project, Prof Brad emphasised the importance of writing in the APA 7 th Edition Style. E xecutive Summary   This proposal is written in response to a call for proposal by Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) to recommend an engineering solution to a specific problem  which has been identified by the team. Cold room temperatures are often synonymous with the cold outdoor temperature on rainy days. This often causes the overcooling of rooms with unnecessary energy usage. This report considers thermal comfort for building occupants and achieve cost savings for building owners. A Building Management System (BMS)   are better suited for application in larger buildings such as institutional buildings with complex services and systems. However, most BMS do not take into consideration of the thermal comfort of the occupants. Cold rainy days are often synonymous with the overcooling of rooms which leads to excessive energy consumption. In the webpage “IoT based Smart Parking Systems for Smart Cities”, Joshi (2020) stated that smart parking systems provide consumers with options for parking spaces. This webpage   addresses technological solutions for the current demand for parking space due to increase in road users. The article discusses the pros and cons of a variety of IoT solutions such as sensors and data collection. The smart parking system is meant to aid in managing parking spaces efficiently to prevent improper parking due to the increase in road users. Using sensors to send the real-time data to the cloud, this offers the potential to create a mobile app. This allows both locals and tourists to pre-book a lot before beginning their journey, reducing wastage of fuel and time spent searching for lots. However, apps like these also present their own setbacks, namely demand and accessibility. This solution would work primarily in populated urban areas. The article primarily discusses how to achieve the optimal thermal comfort for each occupant.
