"Employers identify communication as one of the basic competencies every graduate should have, asserting that the ability to communicate is valuable for obtaining employment and maintaining successful job performance.” Sherwyn Morreale, Michael Osborn & Judy Pearson, Professors of Communication (2000) What can I infer from this quote? Communication plays a vital role in the workforce, without it, it will then affect one's competency to express or even lead others in the company. My thoughts on employment: Each employer has a right to accept or reject an interviewee depending on how well they did during the interview. Sometimes, no matter how good the individual's certifications and qualifications are, communicating will always be important. Hence, the purpose of the interview - to assess the ability on how well they can communicate, to connect with the interviewers and also to see how quick thinking they are.
